My Favorite Painting Tool

So still painting the Guest Bedroom. Its coming along very slowly.

While I finish getting the room painted, I thought I would share about my favorite painting tools....

The Shur Line Edger

When we first moved into our house, we went ahead and painted the guest bathroom, master bedroom, and Ainsley's room. We used that blue painters tape you buy at the store to help us with the trims, baseboards and windows. First of all that tape can get expensive and I am pretty sure we went through 5 rolls of it!   Second of all it took FOREVER to tape around everything.

When we got started on our living room, I told Robbie that there has got to be some other way!
That's when we found this bad boy!! It seriously is SO great.

It only cost about $5 and you can continue to buy little replacement pads for about $3 for 2 replacement pads.

The pads are easy to clean and you get a lot of use out of them.

You just dip it in the paint and wipe of any excess. Then you push the rollers on it up again your trim and slide it down your wall.

and there you go!! A nice crisp line and you didn't have to spend time taping anything down.

It is AMAZING!!

I kind of kicked my self in the rear end after we had already painted three rooms using all of that tape when this little invention was just waiting to be bought from us at the store.

Also I did not receive any sort of endorsement or advertising from Shur Line. I just really wanted to share with you guys a wonderful tool to help you paint with!

I will leave you with a little preview of my newly painted guest bedroom!

New Domain

So I changed my domain name to go more along with my Etsy Shops name which is Life's Little Details. Anywho, my new blog address is lifelittledetails.blogspot.com. So refollow me if you are already a friendly follower. Also I did not leave out an "s" in the address. Life's Little Details was taken so I had to take out the "s" after life. Thanks for sticking with me!!

How do you all like the new look? I am tweaking it still a bit but I am really loving the freshness of it!

Is it done yet?

So many projects going on at the Earle household.
So many in fact that my dining room looks like a warehouse!

Right now I have all the trim done in the guest bedroom. It is taking 3 coats of paint to get those bad boys nice and coated. But I know it will be well worth it in the end.

Now to get these doors painted. If anyone wants to come and paint them be my guest. They are awful to paint! I'm thinking about spray painting them. HA!

Along side the many projects going on here, we also have a spider problem.

I HATE spiders. Did anyone watch the movie Arachnophobia?

Can you believe someone actually reviewed this movie as fun!?  This person was obviously not in their right mind when watching this movie. After watching this my husband and I are now under the belief that EVERY spider is going to kill you with one bite.

The thing is though that the spiders are only in one room of the house. The living room. So that makes me feel a little better. At least they are some what contained, even though we have to kill about 9 a day!

*shudders*

Anyways, cant wait to reveal my newly painted guest bedroom to you soon!

Im back! And with a Guest Bedroom Overhaul!

Sorry for the hiatus. I got busy. Very Busy. I also ran out of things to blog about. But then I remembered how much we have been doing to our house and why not blog about that!?

So since we finally have the living room pretty much completed in our house. I decided to pick my next project room. The guest bedroom seemed like the best pick. Its the one room in this house that we have not done a single thing to!!

Because it was left alone since we moved in, we continued to "store" stuff in it. As we cleaned a room out we threw all of the stuff that we didnt have a place for in the guest bedroom. Figuring we would get to it later. Well LATER has come!!!

Here is what the room looked like before we cleaned it out. We decided to move everything upstairs to be sorted out for good!

There is quite a bit that needs to be done to this room.

1. It needs to be painted. The walls are disgusting!!!

I just dont understand how anyone lets their house get this bad. But these walls....WOW!

So that will be the first project. getting all this dark brown trim primed and painted a fresh white. And the walls painted a nice tan color.

Then there is this little gem. Wow, this room was super lucky to get a flower light switch cover. I will give this thing to anyone who wants it! I will try not to judge your taste in light switch covers as you take it. Either that or its going straight in the TRASH!

Its really not that bad. But not my taste at all. And not what I am going for with this room.
Speaking of lights. Eventually I want to change out this plain ole thing with a pretty chandelier of some sort. Still trying to see if I can find something that I can make.

Then there is the closet. I am already dreading painting these doors. But if I want a cohesive look to this room. It has got to be done. Either that or I need to find a way to close off this closet without these ugly doors.

Here is the dark trim. But also this rolling blind/curtain thing. This is getting tossed as well. Some window treatments will take its place.

And then these is this little night stand. I am going to paint it the same color of the beautiful dresser I redid for this room. Cant wait to see how it comes out!

Letters to the American Idol Contestants

So a couple of my friends have done this and I thought it was funny. Just my thoughts on each contestants written in letter form. These are my opinions. You are welcome to share yours in the comments :)

 Dear Colton Dixon,
If I was a teenage girl I would probably dream that I could marry you. Now I am married and that is not my dream, my husband is super awesome. However, I am loving that you seem to really love the Lord. I hope that if you win that your hope is to become a christian artist. Either way, your one of my favorites though. I was so pleased to watch you worship the Lord on national television. Unashamed. LOVE IT!

Sincerely,
   Your fan

Dear Skylar Laine,
Did you know that I used to go to church in your home town. I think your amazing. I love your spunk and the fun that you bring to each performance. Plus your from my home!!!

Sincerely,
The girl who cant get enough of you!

Dear Joshua Ledet,
Do you only like women singers. You seem to only pick songs that are sung by women. Not that there is anything wrong with that. You do have a high register, however my husband is starting to question your manliness. Please sing a manly song.

Sincerely,
The one who is on the fence about you

Dear Jessica Sanchez,
Can they just go ahead and drop the confetti on you. Is there a trophy to give out. Can we just go ahead and hand it out. You have major pipes. Seriously. I loved your version of Beyonce's song. You always surprise me. I have to remind myself that you are only 16 because you don't seem like it at all.

Sincerely,
The girl who wants your voice

Dear Heejun Han,
Okay, I have to say your voice is nice. However, my husband and I really love you because you are hilarious. Please be hilarious again. I cant get enough of it.

Sincerely,
The fan of your comedy acts

Dear Phillip Phillips,
We are huge fans. You are the most real artist and musician up there. Actually that's a lie, however, you are one of the only ones that we would buy a cd from if you ever produced one. Please don't change.

Sincerely,
The one who thinks your number 1

Dear DeAndre Bracksick,
You sing like a woman. It weird's me out. I don't like it. Please stop singing entire songs in falsetto. Thank you.

Sincerely,
Not a fan of the high voice

Dear Hollie Cavanagh,
I think your a sweet girl. You have a great voice. But you have GOT to make better song choices. "Jesus take the Wheel" was not good for you. For one, your not a country singer. So why try to sing country? You need to stick to Celine and that genre.

Sincerely,
Really sad that you didn't do well last night.

Dear Elise Testone,
You were my absolute favorite girl from the beginning. However, that changed during the first week of the top 12. You voice is amazing. Your style of music is what I love. But you have got to work on your personality!!! Smile every once in a while girl!!

Sincerely,
Sad that your not the whole package

Craft Room Reveal!

The long awaited craft room is FINALLY DONE!!! :) I can now breathe and work in there without going insane! :)
There are still a few things I would like to do to it, but those can come later.

And here it is.....drum roll!!!!.......

TA DA!!!
(Sorry the pictures are horrible, I could not find my camera so I had to take them with my phone)

This is my sewing table right next to the beautiful sunshine!!
it will eventually be painted soon! :)
Bottom shelf: I used Pampers boxes and covered the front of them with pretty fabric to store my fabrics. The Tupperware on the side is where I put my scraps.
Top Shelf: I took two banker boxes and cut them and painted the outside pink to store my paints and craft papers/sewing patterns. I also took a Gerber formula jar and wrapped it with pretty scrap book paper to store my paint brushes. A Huggies wipe container to store my odds and ends, such as my glue gun. I also have my spools of tulle on this shelf.

This is the wall I finished a while back. I just added two tension rods to store my ribbons.

This is my table where I iron and measure and also now where my easel is for me to paint. I also bought a cork board at the Hospice Store awhile back and painted the frame pink and covered the cork with white fabric, added a ribbon and hung it up! :) I also found two more canisters and just covered them with pretty scrap book paper to store my scissors and fabric pens.
The box underneath the table is my "trash can" ha!!
The lamp shade on the table is for Ainsley's room. Its an incomplete project.

Here is where Ainsley's hang's out while I work and a couple of tutu's I recently made.

AND the other corner where the ironing board sits. I eventually want to figure out some way to hang my iron up on that wall, along with my glue gun. The white basket on the floor in the corner is where I put all my felt and interfacing.

And that is it!! I am so happy with how it came out!! I can finally start working on things now!! :)

No more failure!

So I have been pretty hesitant about whether to share this with others. Only because I have shared it before and failed. Also because I don't want people to know if I do fail again.

I have started a diet once again. And I am starting a work out routine shortly.

I mainly decided that I really have to do this. Not so that I can look thin and feel great about myself (which is a plus), but because I was feeling so sickly!! Seriously, eating bad can have such an effect on your body. In October I had gotten so sad and down on myself for not losing any weight in a while that I completely gave up and decided I didn't care. I was going to eat what I wanted to. I quit drinking water completely. Seriously, I never picked up a glass or a bottle in a month! And was drinking soda constantly and juice. I started to feel so bad. My body literally felt sick and old. I was always tired! I mean just lazy and tired all the time. My body did not feel right. My stomach was always feeling bad.

So then as I was talking to the Lord, I heard Him remind me that it has to be my choice. That I have to choose to live a healthy life. I mean if I keep going down that road who knows what could become of my body. I need to take care of it to be a better mom, wife and follower of Christ.

So finally on December 27, 2011 I vowed to only drink water. I gave up soda. Which was so hard to do until I got myself in the mindset for it. Now I do allow myself one cup of coffee in the morning if I would like. Although, I don't always take up this offer. I also almost every day drink one cup of hot green tea. Supposedly, it is good for you and helps with weight loss. We shall see. I figure there is no harm in drinking it! I am not punishing myself if I do drink a glass of juice or milk. I actually have not done it though. And if I do drink juice it has to be this juice I recently found that is completely non processed and it is all natural.

Since I started drinking only water, its amazing the results I have had. First off I must have gone through sort of a detox, ha ha. I felt so awful the first two days that I did it. But after that my body feels great, I don't feel so sluggish anymore. My skin is so clear! And I it makes me feel energized and healthy!

I have also cut out processed food from our meals as much as I can. I am trying as hard as I can with our food budget to make this work. It is extremely hard though.

So this I guess could be a part of my new years resolution. I know its cliche but I seriously have got to get healthier. This is not my only resolution though. I have more spiritual ones I would love to do this year but this is just one I am sharing with you all.

Now onto working out. I am hopefully going to start on Monday. I really want to get in shape and lose weight. I NEED to fit into my old clothes. That is my motivation. So I guess once again, hopefully I can be motivated this time and really stick to what I am doing.
