What I Can Do in Two Weeks

A lot has happened this year and we have only made it two and a half weeks in. I got engaged on the first day of the year in New York City. How many girls get to say that about their engagements? Not many. So naturally I have to brag on my wonderful fiance for doing such a good job. He is too good to me. With an engagement comes a wedding in most cases.

So first things first, set a date.

Robbie and I decided we wanted to get married before I start teaching in the fall, so we picked July 24th. Little did I know that setting the date would be the easy part.

After our date I got the ball rolling on as much as I could, because this last semester of college is my student teaching semester. So all I could think was that I have 6 months to plan a wedding and not let it interfere with my student teaching. So basically, that means get things done pronto!

First order of business was to get my wedding dress and pick out my bridesmaid dresses. So mom, Christine, and I ran off to the wedding franchise's number 1 store, David's Bridal and tried on some dresses. I tried on about 5 dresses before I found the one that I loved! Christine tried on the bridesmaid dresses I loved and we went ahead and ordered hers. This is the dress we picked out. The dresses are going to be in clover green.

My wedding colors are clover green and black. We decided to make the wedding formal and I just love the green color, especially for a summer wedding.

After getting the bridal attire knocked out, Ro
bbie and I decided we needed to book our venue quick. This was a tough one, because we have a wonderful couple who has offered to do two amazing things for us. Derek, Robbie's cousin's husband, is a su chef and offered to cater our wedding pro bono! and his wife Brooke, said she would DJ for us for free. We could not have asked for such servants hearts! Anyways, finding a venue that would let you use your own caterer was tough, but we found the perfect place. The Stowe Manor, a 1920's southern mansion in Belmont, NC. I was so excited when we found it.

The ceremony will take place outside on the front steps and then the reception will follow right after inside the mansion.
Finding the venue was a real weight off my shoulder. Now just to the minor details. I will post more about those as I think about them...right now it is late and I have ceased to function. Signing off...
